Answer: No, you don't . You are free to use any E26/E27 based LED or incandescent under 60-watt.

Answer: This pendant light is pre-assembled at the standard that needs to be hardwired, while you can convert it into a plug-in light with any US Standard plug. We suggest any installation by a professional electrian. For your information we may have this plug-in light in the future, please keep following us.

Answer: It's a regular, light with E27/26 base that needs to be hardwired. There is no switch on the pendant itself.
Does the red handle turn the light on?
Answer: No. Unfortunately it doesn't. But it's a really great idea and thanks for asking! We will consider adding this feature to the light in the future.
